  • 1teaspoons cracked black pepper
  • 2tablespoons canola oil
  • 50grams butter

  • 300grams macaroni pasta
  • 500grams pastry sheets, thawed
  • 200grams gruyere cheese, grated
  • 300grams passata
  • 1 1/4 cup beef stock
  • 1/4 cup milk

Description

This is a rich, salty and indulgent pasta dish in a crispy and flaky pastry coating.

Method

Step 1 of 11

Heat up a large non-stick pan to a medium heat and then add the canola oil.

Step 2 of 11

Fry the onions and garlic while tossing for 5 minutes.

Step 3 of 11

Add the bacon and minced beef to the pan and fry for a further 10 minutes while combining.

Step 4 of 11

Add the passata and beef stock to the pan and allow everything to simmer for 20 minutes stirring occasionally.

Pre-heat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced and prepare a casserole dish or baking tin by buttering the edges.

Cook the pasta as per packet instructions, drain, and then empty into the saucepan with the mince and combine.

Line your baking dish with pastry on the bottom and sides and keep some pastry to cover the top.

Crack and beat your eggs in a bowl with the pepper and then combine with the mince and pasta.

Add the grated cheese to the pan and then empty all contents into the pastry lined baking dish.

Cover the pasta with puff pastry and tighten the edges together. Pierce multiple times with a fork and brush the pastry with milk.

Bake in the oven for 70 minutes and allow to cool slightly before serving.
