  • 100grams broad beans, drained
  • 160grams sausage meat
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1teaspoons mixed herb
  • 1 medium white onion, peeled and diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and mashed
  • 1 pinch cracked black pepper

Description

The sausage filling inside these Maltese pastry treats combine well with the soft beans.

Method

Step 1 of 6

Pre-heat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced.

Step 2 of 6

Heat up a non-stick pan and fry the onion, garlic, beans and sausage meat for 7 minutes and remove from the heat.

Step 3 of 6

Once the fried ingredients have cooled slightly, place in a bowl with the rest of the ingredients apart from the pastry.

Step 4 of 6

Roll out the pastry and cut out about 16 circles using a circular glass or cup.

Step 5 of 6

Place a little of the mixture into the centre of the circle, fold up the edges and pinch together tightly.

Step 6 of 6

Place the sealed pastizzis on a baking tray and bake for 20 minutes before serving.
