Recipe Cost per serve FAQs

The cost per serve price is an estimate based on the ingredient quantities needed in the recipe, as well as specific products, and should be used as a guide only. The final price may vary depending on the final product selected and number of serves selected for your recipe.

How is the estimated recipe cost per serve calculated?

We first determine the total recipe cost based on the specific measurements needed of each ingredient in the recipe. For example, a recipe that serves 4 people may require 20ml of soy sauce. Only the cost of the 20ml of soy sauce product (and not the cost of the entire bottle of the product) will be added to the total recipe cost. This total recipe cost is then divided by the number of servings detailed for that recipe to calculate the estimated cost per serve.

What if the products used to calculate cost per serve are out of stock/not available?

Where products are out of stock/not available, the products you see when you shop the recipe may be different to the products we used to calculate estimated recipe cost per serve. Those products shown will not influence the cost per serve shown, and so the final cost per serve for you may differ.

What if I swap a product while shopping the recipe?

Products swapped while shopping the recipe will not influence the estimated recipe cost per serve, and so the final cost per serve for you may differ.

What if I increase/decrease the number of servings?

The estimated cost per serve amount is calculated on the recipes’ default serve amounts shown (being the number of serves presented when you first load the recipe).

Why am I seeing a different price when I shop the recipe?

The price you see when you shop the recipe is the cost to purchase all of the ingredients, instead of just the quantity needed in the recipe (see our ‘How is the estimated recipe cost per serve calculated?’ FAQ) .

For example if a recipe calls for 100g of flour, the shop recipe experience may return a flour product with a unit size of 500g . The shop recipe amount will show the full cost of the flour, and the cost per serve will show the cost for the quantities used in the recipe.
