  • 700grams tomato passata
  • 500grams beef mince
  • 2tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 sheet fresh lasagne
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 180grams fresh mozzarella, drained, sliced
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (day-old)

Method

Step 1 of 4

Preheat oven to 190°C. Combine mince, breadcrumbs, garlic, parsley, basil, half the parmesan and egg in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper and, using your hands, mix well to combine. Roll tablespoonfuls of mixture into balls.

Step 2 of 4

Pour oil in an 18x28cm (4cm deep) roasting pan and heat in oven for 5 minutes. Add meatballs and bake for 10 minutes, shaking occasionally, or until lightly browned.

Step 3 of 4

Dot half the ricotta among the meatballs, then pour over half the passata. Top with 1 lasagne sheet then spread with half the remaining passata and ricotta. Repeat layering. Finish with the last lasagne sheet, mozzarella and remaining parmesan.

Step 4 of 4

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until lasagne is tender and mozzarella is golden. Serve.
