  • 800grams chickpeas
  • 1 medium red onion, peeled and sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
  • 3tablespoons plain flour
  • 1/2 bunch parsley, fresh, chopped
  • 1/2 bunch coriander, fresh, chopped
  • 2teaspoons cumin
  • 1/2 lemon, juice
  • 3tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1tablespoons canola oil

Air frying means you can have light and crisp falafel without deep frying.

Method

Step 1 of 2

Tip the chickpeas plus 1 tablespoon of the liquid into a food processor and blitz until smooth. Add the onion, garlic, flour, fresh herbs, cumin and lemon juice and blitz until smooth. Stir in the sesame seeds.

Step 2 of 2

Shape the mix into 12 falafel patties with your hands. Place the patties in the air fryer basket and drizzle with oil. Cook at 180°C for 8 minutes, turn the patties and cook for 5-6 minutes until golden and crisp.
