- 240grams plain flour, 120g for base, 120g for crumb
- 100grams unsalted butter, 70g for base, 30g for filling
- 1 pinch salt
- 3/4 cup milk, 0.1 cups plus 3 tsp (40ml) for base, 0.6 cups plus 2 tsp (160ml) for filling
- 3/4 cup molasses, save 1 tsp
- 1teaspoons cinnamon
- 100grams milk chocolate
- 40grams walnuts, crushed
- 40grams dark sugar
- 1 egg

Description
An aromatic and crunchy take on a traditional chocolate shoofly pie.
Method
Step 1 of 11
Pre-heat the oven to 200°C.
Step 2 of 11
In a mixing bowl, combine 120g of flour with 30g of butter and the dark sugar and mix together well.
Step 3 of 11
Separate the mixture into 2 and set to one side. Half with be used for a crumbed topping and the rest for the filling.

In another bowl, combine the other 120g of flour with 70g of butter and a pinch of salt and 40ml of milk and combine fully.

Line a 8-9 inch cake tin with the dough and ensure you cover the edges also and allow to set in the fridge while you make the filling.

Heat up 160ml of milk in a pot and combine with the chocolate, molasses and cinnamon until melted together fully.
Step 7 of 11
Remove from the heat and combine the chocolate mixture with half of the crumb mixture, crack and combine with the egg and pour into the cake tin.
Step 8 of 11
Bake this in the oven for 15 minutes.

Reduce the temperature to 170°C.
Step 10 of 11
Combine the rest of the crumb mixture with the walnuts and sprinkle over the top of the cake before baking for a further 30 minutes.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before suggested serving.
