- 2teaspoons instant dry yeast
- 1/4 cup caster sugar
- 2 1/4 cups plain bread & pizza flour
- 2teaspoons mixed spice
- 1/4teaspoons salt
- 1 orange, zested
- 2/3 cup Woolworths sultanas
- 25grams butter, melted, plus 50g extra softened butter to serve
- 1/2 cup milk, warmed (P)
- 2 free range eggs, lightly beaten
- 1tablespoons honey, warmed

No kneading? No worries! These deliciously zesty, fruity hot cross buns take just 15 minutes in the air fryer to achieve the results you know and love!

Cooking tip:Check your yeast is in date. If the yeast doesn’t react and become frothy at the end of step 1, your yeast has expired and is no longer alive.
Method
Step 1 of 6
Place 1/4 cup warm water in a jug. Sprinkle over yeast and 1 tsp caster sugar, then stir until dissolved. Set aside in a warm, draught-free place for 5 minutes or until frothy.
Step 2 of 6
Place 2 cups flour in a large bowl. Add mixed spice, salt and remaining caster sugar. Whisk to combine. Stir through orange zest and sultanas. Make a well. Add yeast mixture, butter, milk and eggs.
Step 3 of 6
Using a flat-bladed knife, stir mixture until well combined and a sticky dough has formed. Cover with a clean damp tea towel. Set dough aside in a warm, draught-free place for 1 hour 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
Step 4 of 6
Punch dough down and turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Bring dough together and shape into a log. Divide dough into 6 portions. Working with 1 portion at a time, shape into a ball. Place ball, smooth-side up, into a well greased air-fryer basket. Repeat with remaining portions. Cover air-fryer basket with a clean tea towel and set aside in a warm, draught-free place for 1 hour or until risen.
Step 5 of 6
Place remaining flour in a small bowl. Add 2 tbs water and stir until a paste forms. Spoon into a reusable bag and snip off one corner. Pipe crosses on top of buns.
Step 6 of 6
Bake buns in air fryer at 160°C for 12 minutes or until golden. (They should sound hollow when tapped.) Stand for 10 minutes. Carefully remove buns from air fryer and transfer to a wire rack. Brush tops with honey. Serve warm with butter.
