Description
This authentic Greek Keftedes recipe is the ideal midweek meal. These juicy meatballs go perfectly with salad and flatbreads for a balanced meal.
Method
Step 1 of 7
Blitz the onion, garlic, parsley and mint in a food processor to form a paste.
Step 2 of 7
Combine the breadcrumbs, onion mixture, eggs, tomato puree, pepper, oregano, cumin and salt in a bowl. Mix well.
Step 3 of 7
Add the beef mince and olive oil to the breadcrumb mixture. Mix well, using your hands to combine. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least ½ an hour.
Step 4 of 7
Now that the mixture is set, it’s ready to roll into balls. Use a spoon to measure out the keftedes so they are even in size, and roll with your hands.
Step 5 of 7
Roll the keftedes in flour. If you are deep frying, retain their ball shape. If you are using a pan, flatten them a little.
Step 6 of 7
Add oil so that it covers the pan, 1cm deep. Cook the keftedes over high heat, 10 mins each side. Place on a plate with a paper towel to drain.
Step 7 of 7
Serve on flatbread with feta, tomato, capsicum and tzatziki.
