  • 4kilograms Woolworths half leg ham
  • 2tablespoons whole cloves
  • 3 cups brown sugar
  • 275grams cranberry sauce
  • 1 sprig bay leaves (to serve)

Description

This juicy, tender glazed leg of ham is easy to make and the perfect centrepiece for any festive dinner table.

Method

Step 1 of 4

Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced. Place a wire rack in a large roasting pan.

Step 2 of 4

Using a small sharp knife, cut around the ham rind, 10cm from the shank end. Starting at the opposite end to shank, run your thumb under the rind to separate it from the fat. Peel back and discard the rind.

Step 3 of 4

Using the small, sharp knife, score ham fat in a diamond pattern. Take care not to cut into the meat. Push a clove into the centre of each diamond. Combine sugar and cranberry sauce in a bowl. Thickly brush mixture over ham. Place ham in prepared pan.

Step 4 of 4

Bake for 15-20 minutes. Brush again with mixture. Return to the oven for further 30-35 minutes or until golden. Remove from oven and transfer to a large serving platter. Wrap shank with muslin and ribbon. Decorate with bay leaves. Serve.
