  • 2 tomato, sliced (to serve)
  • 1 carrot, finely grated
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 oak leaf lettuce (to serve)
  • 4 slice tasty cheese
  • 1tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • barbecue sauce (optional)
  • tomato sauce (optional)
  • 1teaspoons dried Italian herbs
  • 500grams premium beef mince
  • 1tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 ciabatta rolls, split in half

Method

Step 1 of 3

Combine the mince, grated carrot, sauce and herbs in a large bowl. Using your hands, mix ingredients together well until evenly combined. Divide mixture into 4 portions and shape into patties 10cm in diameter.

Step 2 of 3

Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Add patties and onion to pan and cook burgers for 3 minutes each side or until golden and cooked through. Remove burgers from heat and place on a plate. Top each patty with a slice of cheese. Cover and set aside. Continue cooking onion until browned.

Step 3 of 3

Arrange lettuce, patty and tomato on each roll. Add onions and tomato or barbecue sauce, if desired.
