  • 125grams milk chocolate, broken into pieces
  • 15grams butter
  • 1/4 cup smarties (to decorate)
  • 125grams butter
  • 50grams caster sugar
  • 1tablespoons golden syrup
  • 4teaspoons cocoa powder
  • 250grams digestive biscuits, crushed
  • 50grams dried cranberries

Method

Step 1 of 5

Line a shallow 18 cm square tin with clingfilm.

Step 2 of 5

Melt the butter, sugar, golden syrup and cocoa powder in a saucepan, stirring until smooth. Remove from the heat and stir in the crushed biscuits and cranberries.

Step 3 of 5

Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin. Press the mixture down firmly and evenly with the back of a spoon. Place in the freezer for 5 minutes to chill.

To make the topping, heat the chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, making sure the base of the bowl doesn't touch the water, until melted and smooth.

Step 5 of 5

Pour the chocolate topping over the biscuit base and spread evenly. Decorate with coloured sweets then return to the freezer for 10 minutes to set. Cut into squares to serve.
