  • 1 large carrot, cut into matchsticks
  • 5 green shallots, thinley sliced
  • 1/2 cup Hoi Sin sauce
  • 1tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 500grams beef strips
  • 1tablespoons vegetable oil

Method

Step 1 of 3

Heat a wok over a high heat until very hot. Add sesame seeds and shake wok over the heat for about 2 mins until toasted. Remove to a bowl. Return wok to heat.

Step 2 of 3

Add 1 tsp of the oil to the wok and swirl to coat. Add 1/4 of the beef. Sear on high heat for 1 minute or until browned. Remove from wok, reheat and repeat with remaining beef.

Step 3 of 3

Add remaining oil to wok with vegetables. Toss for 1 minute. Add 1 tbs water, cover and cook for 1 minute. Remove cover. Return beef to wok with hoisin sauce and sesame seeds. Toss through to heat and serve with steamed rice.
