- 1 2/3 cup self-raising flour
- 50grams butter
- 1/3 cup treacle
- 1/3 cup low calorie sweetener granulated
- 1/2teaspoons ground cardamom
- 1 1/2teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4teaspoons ground cloves
- 1 1/2teaspoons ground ginger
- 2teaspoons orange rind, grated
- 1 egg, lightly whisked
Method
Step 1 of 6
Place treacle, butter and orange rind in a small saucepan over medium heat and stir until melted.Remove from heat, add Splenda Low Calorie Sweetener and stir until well combined.

Sift flour and spices into a large bowl. Add low calorie sweetener mixture and egg. Mix well to form a soft, sticky dough, adding a little extra flour if necessary.

Turn out dough onto a floured surface and knead for 1 minute. Place in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 4 hours.

Preheat oven to 180°C. Line 2 large baking trays with baking paper.

Divide dough into 2 equal portions. Roll out 1 portion on a lightly floured surface until 1cm thick. Cut out biscuits using festive-shaped cookie cutters and place on prepared trays. Repeat with remaining dough. Use a skewer to make holes if you would like to thread with string.

Bake for 10–12 minutes. Cool on tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve.
