  • 1 3/4 cup self raising flour, sifted
  • 225grams butter, softened
  • 2tablespoons golden syrup
  • 200grams milk choc bits
  • 1 egg
  • 1teaspoons sea salt flakes
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 395grams sweetened condensed milk

Method

Step 1 of 6

In a small saucepan combine 100g WESTERN STAR CHEF’S CHOICE Butter, golden syrup and NESTLE Sweetened Condensed Milk, stir constantly over low heat for 10-15 minutes or until thickened slightly and caramel in colour. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 2 of 6

Preheat oven to 170°C/150°C fan forced. Grease and line 2 baking trays with baking paper.

Step 3 of 6

Using an electric mixer, beat 125g WESTERN STAR CHEF’S CHOICE Butter and CSR Brown Sugar until pale and creamy, add egg; beat until just combined. Stir in WHITE WINGS flour, salt and NESTLE BAKERS’ CHOICE Milk CHOC BITS. Mix until well combined.

Step 4 of 6

Roll level tablespoons of mixture into balls; place 4cm apart on prepared trays; gently press down on cookies to flatten slightly. Bake for 10 minutes.

Step 5 of 6

Carefully remove from oven; use the end of lightly floured wooden spoon to make a hole in the centre of cookie.

Step 6 of 6

Divide caramel mixture amongst holes, being careful not to overfill. Return to oven and bake a further 6-7 minutes or until caramel is bubbly and cookie is golden. Set aside on trays for 15-20 minutes or until caramel is completely cool.
