  • 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, grated
  • 1tablespoons thyme leaves
  • 2tablespoons sage leaves, chopped
  • 1teaspoons cooking salt
  • 2tablespoons fennel seeds, crushed
  • 2 free range eggs
  • 6 sheets Woolworths puff pastry, partially thawed
  • 1/4 cup poppy seeds
  • 1 cups tomato sauce (to serve)

Description

Give your homemade sausage rolls a lift with this tasty pork, apple and fennel sausage roll recipe. This is the perfect finger food to serve at parties.

Method

Step 1 of 4

Preheat oven to 220°C/200°C fan-forced. Line 3 baking trays with baking paper.

Step 2 of 4

Place pork and sausage mince in a large bowl. Add apple, thyme, sage, salt, fennel seeds and 1 egg, and mix to combine.

Step 3 of 4

Cut pastry sheets in half to form rectangles. Place one-twelfth of the mince mixture along 1 long pastry edge. Roll up pastry to enclose filling. Cut each roll into 5 pieces and place, seam-side down, on tray. Repeat with remaining mince mixture and pastry.

Step 4 of 4

Beat remaining egg in a small bowl. Brush pastry with egg and sprinkle with poppy seeds. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden and cooked through. Serve with tomato sauce.
