Description

Load up bread rolls with thickened cream, vanilla custard and fresh berries, then pour over hot caramel sauce for a speedy, budget-friendly dessert.
Instruction tip
Swap tip:
Use ice-cream instead of custard and cream for a colder treat.

Method

Step 1 of 3

To make custard, place sugar and 1/2 cup water in a medium heavy-based saucepan. Stir over low heat for 3 minutes or until sugar dissolves. Increase heat and bring to the boil. Boil, without stirring, for 5 minutes or until rich caramel brown in colour. Remove from heat. Allow bubbles to subside.

Step 2 of 3

Meanwhile, using an electric mixer, beat cream in a large bowl until stiff peaks form. Using a large metal spoon, fold custard through cream to swirl together.

Step 3 of 3

Place roll bases on a plate lined with baking paper. Top with cream mixture and berries. Top with roll lids. Pour hot caramel over rolls. Allow to set. Serve.
