- 1teaspoons bicarbonate soda
- 1/2teaspoons caster sugar
- 1 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 medium egg

Description
This classic Irish soda bread is delicious served warm with butter or with a warming soup.
Method
Step 1 of 3
Pre-heat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan-forced. Mix the flours, bicarbonate of soda and sugar in a large bowl.
Step 2 of 3
Mix the buttermilk and egg in a jug, make a well in the centre of the flour mix and pour in. Mix well to form a soft dough.
Step 3 of 3
Place the dough in a lined loaf tin. Bake for 45-50 minutes until the base makes a hollow sound when tapped. Leave to cool on a wire rack, slice and serve.
