Step 1 of 2
Cut carrot and potato into similar sized pieces. Steam or microwave for 6 minutes until tender.
Step 2 of 2
Preheat grill to high. Roughly mash cooked vegetables together and stir in a little milk to make smooth (the smoothness will depend on the age of your toddler). Spoon a serving portion into a small ovenproof dish. Combine breadcrumbs and grated cheese. Sprinkle over mash. Grill for 5 minutes or until golden.
