Instruction tip
Prep tip:Grating the chocolate helps it to melt quickly and combine with the milk to create a smooth fudge-like slice, perfect for gift giving. It’s very sweet, so a little goes a long way.
Method
Step 1 of 4
Grease and line the base and sides of a round 20cm (base) cake pan with baking paper. Using a box grater, coarsely grate chocolate. Place in a medium mixing bowl.
Step 2 of 4
Heat milk in a small heavy-based saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally to avoid it catching on the base, for 2 minutes or until hot.
Step 3 of 4
Pour hot milk over chocolate. Working quickly, mix vigorously until the mixture is well combined and a thick dough-like mixture forms. Spoon into prepared pan. Using an angled palette knife, spread out evenly and smooth the surface. Place in fridge for 1 hour or until firm.
Step 4 of 4
Turn out of the pan. Using a large heavy knife, cut into 8 wedges. Melt chocolate melts following packet instructions. Using the tip of a bamboo skewer, make a dot of white chocolate on the pointed end of 1 reindeer to attach 1 Jaffa. Repeat to attach candy eyeballs. Repeat on remaining reindeer to attach remaining Jaffas and candy eyeballs. Set aside for 10 minutes to set. To store, line the base of an airtight container with baking paper and store at room temperature in a cool, dry place for up to 1 week. Avoid placing in the fridge as it will cause the red nose to discolour.
