Method

Step 1 of 4

Whisk milk, butter, egg and vanilla together in a jug. Sift flour and bicarbonate of soda into a bowl. Stir in sugar. Make a well in the centre. Add milk mixture. Whisk until just combined.

Step 2 of 4

Divide batter into 2 portions. Mix cocoa into 1 portion and transfer into a squeeze bottle.

Step 3 of 4

Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Brush pan with a little butter.

Step 4 of 4

Using the cocoa batter, draw the outline of a paw into the pan and add dots for paw prints inside the outline. Allow to set slightly, about 20 seconds, then fill with plain batter. Cook for 3 minutes or until bubbles appear on the surface. Turn and cook for 2 minutes or until cooked through. Transfer to a plate and cover loosely with foil to keep warm. Repeat with remaining batters, brushing pan with butter between batches. Serve pancakes with fresh fruit.
