- 2tablespoons canola oil
- 900grams pork chops, boneless, fat trimmed
- 1 large onion, peeled and sliced
- 5centimeters ginger, peeled and grated
- 1 large red chilli, sliced
- 1/2teaspoons Chinese 5 spice
- 4 cloves garlic, peeled and sliced
- 3/4 cup hoisin sauce, save 2 tsp for later
- 1tablespoons maple syrup
- 3/4 cup sherry
Description
This sweet and sticky hoisin pork is a great takeaway alternative and can be left to cook gently in the slow cooker.
Method
Step 1 of 3
Heat half of the oil in a pan on medium heat and seal the pork on all sides until lightly browned. Place in the slow cooker.
Step 2 of 3
Heat the rest of the oil and cook the onion for 5 minutes to soften. Add the ginger, chilli, 5 spice and garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Pour in the hoisin sauce, maple syrup and sherry and cool for 1 minute. Tip into the slow cooker.
Step 3 of 3
Cook on high with the lid on for 4 hours until tender.
