Instruction tip
Cooking tip:If you don’t have an ovenproof frying pan, position your frying pan with the handle away from the heat of the grill.
Method
Step 1 of 4
Heat oil in a large, deep, flameproof and ovenproof baking dish over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook, stirring often, for 3 minutes or until lightly coloured all over.
Step 2 of 4
Add garlic. Cook, stirring with a wooden spoon, for 30 seconds or until fragrant. Add tomato paste. Cook, stirring with a wooden spoon, for 1 minute or until meatballs are well coated.
Step 3 of 4
Add diced tomatoes. Stir to combine. Add 1 cup water to empty can and swirl to combine. Add tomato water to saucepan, plus an extra 3 cups water. Stir to combine. Season. Bring to the boil over medium-high heat. Add pasta. Stir to combine. Return to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium and simmer, stirring gently often, for 8 minutes or until pasta is tender.
Step 4 of 4
Preheat a grill on high. Sprinkle three-quarters of the cheese on top of pasta bake. Cook under grill for 3 minutes or until cheese has melted. Sprinkle pasta bake with remaining cheese. Serve.
