- 1/2 cup Woolworths blanched almonds, coarsely chopped
- 1 cup Woolworths full cream milk
- 4 chai tea bags
- 1/2 cup caster sugar
- 2 cups Woolworths full cream milk powder
- 2 sheets edible gold leaf
Description
Savour the essence of Diwali with every spoonful of this delicious chai masala white barfi, where the warmth of aromatic spices combines with creamy milk.
Method
Step 1 of 4
Line a 20cm (base) square cake pan with baking paper, extending paper at 2 opposite sides for handles. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Place almonds over base of the prepared pan.
Step 2 of 4
In a medium saucepan, bring milk to a simmer over medium heat. Add tea bags, remove from heat and allow to steep for 5 minutes.
Step 3 of 4
Remove tea bags, return pan to a medium heat, then add sugar and cook, stirring for 2 minutes or until dissolved. Then reduce heat to low and add milk powder. Continue stirring mixture for 12-15 minutes or until mixture is thick and comes away from the sides of the pan.
Step 4 of 4
Spread mixture evenly over almonds in pan. Place in fridge for 2 hours to set. Decorate with gold leaf. Cut into 24 pieces to serve.
