  • 50grams soft light brown sugar
  • 4 bananas, peeled
  • 8tablespoons double cream
  • 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream (to serve)

Method

Step 1 of 3

Melt the butter in a large, heavy-based frying pan, add the sugar and heat gently until the sugar has dissolved and the butter is foaming.

Step 2 of 3

Cut the bananas in half lengthways, then cut each half in half again widthways. Add to the pan and cook over a medium heat, stirring and turning gently once or twice, for 3-4 minutes until softened. Remove with a fish slice and divide between 4 warmed serving bowls.

Step 3 of 3

Add the cream to the pan and stir well with a wooden spoon. Spoon the sauce over the bananas and serve with scoops of vanilla ice cream.
