  • 2 1/2teaspoons instant yeast
  • 2tablespoons olive oil
  • 1tablespoons caster sugar
  • 2teaspoons salt

Method

Step 1 of 4

Combine flour, sugar, yeast and salt in a large bowl. Add oil and 11/2 cups warm water. Stir until well combined and a dough forms. Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth.

Step 2 of 4

Divide dough into 16 portions. Place onto a greased baking tray. Stand for 20 minutes to rise. Roll each ball into an 18cm-long sausage shape. Form into a ring, joining ends together.

Preheat oven to 220°C.

Step 4 of 4

Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil. Once boiling, add 3-4 bagels at a time and cook for 30 seconds on each side. Transfer to a tray. Stand for 5 minutes to dry. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 20 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crisp. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
