Description
Whole apples baked in puff pastry are popular as a dessert at Christmas time in eastern Europe.
Method
Step 1 of 3
Pre-heat the oven to 170°C. Using a corer, remove the core each apple while keeping it intact. Roll out the puff pastry to a large rectangle and cut into 4 even squares.
Step 2 of 3
Place an apple on each pastry square and stuff the core with walnuts and drizzle with honey. Wrap up the pastry around the apple to form a parcel and seal at the top, brushing the edges with beaten egg and crimping tightly.
Step 3 of 3
Brush the pastry all over with beaten egg and place on a baking tray. Bake for 35 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and crisp.
