- 100’s & 1000’s (to decorate)
- royal icing
- mixed cachous (to decorate)
- 2 egg (save 1 egg white for later)
- 1/2teaspoons lemon juice
Method
Step 1 of 5
Preheat oven to 180°c. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper.
Step 2 of 5
Beat butter, ¾ cup sugar and vanilla essence together in a large bowl until pale and creamy. Beat in whole egg. Sift flour and custard powder over butter mixture and stir until dough comes together. Shape into a disc, wrap in baking paper and chill for 30 minutes.
Step 3 of 5
Roll out dough until 6mm thick. Using star cookie cutters, cut out biscuits and place on the prepared trays. Push a skewer into each star to make a wand. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden. Set aside to cool completely.
Step 4 of 5
Meanwhile, lightly whisk egg white and lemon juice together in a bowl. Gradually add remaining icing sugar, whisking until smooth and combined.
Step 5 of 5
To decorate, spread a little icing over the stars and decorate with 100’s & 1000’s or cachous. Leave to set completely.
