For the dressing
  • 2tablespoons toasted sesame oil
  • 2 medium limes, 1 juiced, 1 cut in wedges
  • 1teaspoons honey
  • 250grams red cabbage, finely sliced
  • 2 large spring onions, finely sliced
  • 1 large carrot, peeled and julienned
  • 1/2 bunch coriander, fresh, chopped
  • 1 medium red chilli, finely sliced
  • 2tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 medium tuna steaks
  • 1 pinch cracked black pepper

Description

Zingy lime slaw cuts through the richness of seared tuna steaks perfectly.

Method

Step 1 of 3

Whisk the sesame oil, lime juice and honey together in a large bowl. Add the shredded cabbage, spring onions, carrots, chilli and coriander to the bowl and toss well to coat in the dressing. Top with sesame seeds and set aside.

Step 2 of 3

Heat a griddle pan on the highest setting until smoking slightly. Brush the tuna steaks with olive oil on each side, season with cracked black pepper and sear for 3 minutes on each side for medium rare. Rest for 5 minutes wrapped in foil.

Step 3 of 3

Divide the slaw between 4 plates, top each with a tuna steak, add a lime wedge and serve.
