  • 1 red onion, halved, thinly sliced
  • 1 red capsicum, finely chopped
  • 1/3 jar Korean Bbq Bulgogi
  • 2tablespoons sambal oelek

    Sambal oelek is a spicy chilli paste. If you prefer a less spicy dish, reduce the amount of sambal oelek or you can omit it altogether.

  • 1/4 red cabbage, shredded
  • 450grams microwave jasmine rice
  • 2 Lebanese cucumbers, diagonally thinly sliced

Description

Transport your tastebuds to Seoul with a delicious Korean-style beef bowl that only takes 25 minutes to make. Serve up this hearty meal to beat dinnertime stress on a weeknight.

Method

Step 1 of 4

Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat. Add sesame seeds and toast, stirring, for 1 minute or until golden brown. Transfer to a small bowl.

Step 2 of 4

Add beef to pan and cook, stirring to break up lumps, for 5 minutes or until browned. Transfer to a plate.

Step 3 of 4

Heat oil in same pan. Add onion and capsicum. Cook, stirring, for 2-3 minutes or until softened slightly. Return beef to pan along with bulgogi sauce and sambal oelek. Cook for 2 minutes or until combined. Stir in cabbage and cook for 2 minutes or until cabbage wilts slightly.

Step 4 of 4

Place rice in a large bowl and heat according to packet instructions. Stir half of the toasted sesame seeds into rice. Spoon rice into shallow serving bowls. Top with beef and cucumber. Serve sprinkled with remaining sesame seeds.
