- 3 1/2 cup plain flour
- 100grams unsalted butter, softened
- 3teaspoons ground ginger

- 2/3 cup golden syrup
- 130grams designer white writing icing (for decoration)
- 1 egg, whisked
- 2/3 cup brown sugar

Method
Step 1 of 4
Preheat oven to 160°C. Line two baking trays with baking paper.
Step 2 of 4
Beat butter and sugar together until pale and fluffy. Beat in egg until smooth. Sift flour, baking powder and spices together, add to butter mixture and stir to combine. Add golden syrup and mix well.
Step 3 of 4
Turn out dough onto a lightly floured board and knead gently until smooth. Wrap in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.
Step 4 of 4
Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface until 5mm thick. Cut into gingerbread figures. Use a skewer to make a hole so they can be strung together. Transfer to trays and bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden. Cool completely before decorating with icing. Once set, loop the gingerbread bunting together with bright ribbon. Note: For an even golden colour, switch position of trays in oven halfway through cooking.
