  • 1 whole cauliflower
  • 1 head broccoli
  • 1-2teaspoons garam masala powder
  • 1teaspoons black pepper powder
  • 1teaspoons red chilli powder
  • 1tablespoons garlic, paste or finely chopped
  • 1teaspoons turmeric powder
  • 1teaspoons salt (to taste)
  • oil (enough to fry)
  • 4tablespoons corn flour

Description

There are different varieties to this dish, it's usually made with just cauliflower, called Gobi Manchurian. I also use broccoli.

Method

Step 1 of 6

Chop and wash cauliflower and broccoli into large florets. I prep mine by chopping the florets and placing them in hot salted water for 5-10 mins. You don't have to do this. Then lightly cook the cauliflower and broccoli in a little salted water.

Get the spices ready and mix the dry spices all together with the garlic also.

Add some water and make into a thick paste and mix well. Add the cornflour and mix completely.

Now dip each broccoli and cauliflower floret into the marinade and put the dipped florets onto a plate. Allow to marinade for at least 10 minutes.

Add oil to fry pan or to deep pan for frying. I either shallow fry or deep fry, depending on what cooking I'm doing that day. Either is fine. This time, I shallow fried, if shallow frying, fry the florets separately and keep them separate so they don't stick together.

Step 6 of 6

Fry the florets by turning them so that all sides cook fully and brown slightly. If you're deep frying, just put them in the oil, a few at a time and turn them around in the oil for a minute or so, then take out. That's it, now enjoy on their own or as a side dish.
