  • 830grams Woolworths stoneless black cherries in syrup
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1tablespoons cornflour
  • 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 cup traditional rolled oats
  • 1/2teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 100grams salted butter, chilled, finely chopped
  • 50grams Woolworths dark cooking chocolate, cut into 1cm pieces coarsely
  • 1 cup thickened cream, whipped

Description

Indulge in a flavour journey where the richness of dark chocolate perfectly complements the tangy sweetness of cherries. This low-cost black forest crumble won't disappoint!

Method

Step 1 of 3

Drain cherries, reserving the syrup from one can. Set aside 2 tbs syrup. Place cherries, remaining syrup and 1 tbs sugar in an ovenproof 16cm (base) frying pan over medium heat. Cook, stirring often, for 3 minutes or until mixture comes to a simmer.

Step 2 of 3

Combine cornflour and reserved syrup in a small dish until cornflour is dissolved. Stir into cherry mixture. Cook, stirring, for 1 minute or until mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat.

Step 3 of 3

Preheat oven to 200°C/180°C fan-forced. Combine flour, oats, cinnamon and remaining sugar in a large bowl. Using clean hands, rub in butter until well combined. Toss chocolate through mixture. Scatter chocolate mixture evenly over cherry mixture. Bake for 30 minutes or until crumble is golden. Serve with cream.
