- 2tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 3 red onions, very thinly sliced into rounds
- 2tablespoons white miso paste
- 1/2 cup sweet chilli sauce
- 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 5mL extra virgin olive oil cooking spray
- 20grams baby rocket leaves
Description
These tasty handheld miso and caramelised onion tarts take just seven ingredients and 40 minutes to create. They're guaranteed to ignite the senses with the marriage of sweet onion, punchy miso and flaky puff pastry.

Step 1 of 2
Preheat oven to 220°C/200°C fan-forced. Grease and line a large baking tray with baking paper. Heat oil in a large non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook, stirring, for 3 minutes or until softened slightly. Add miso, sweet chilli and ¼ cup water and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes or until onion caramelises and liquid reduces.

Cut each sheet into 6 pieces. Using a small sharp knife, mark a 1cm border on the edge of the pastry, not cutting all the way through. Spoon onion mixture onto pastry inside marked border. Spray with oil. Bake for 20 minutes or until pastry is puffed and golden-brown.
