Description
Give your guests a fright with these creepy crawly chocolate brownies. They're a perfect treat for Halloween.
Method
Step 1 of 7
Preheat oven to 170°C/150°C fan-forced. Grease 20 holes of 2 x 12-hole, 1/3-cup capacity muffin pans. Dust holes with flour, shaking out excess. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
Step 2 of 7
Prepare brownie mix according to packet instructions.
Step 3 of 7
Spoon brownie mixture evenly into holes. Bake for 15 minutes or until a skewer inserted into centres of brownies comes out clean. Cool in pans for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 4 of 7
Place half the choc melts and milk in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave, uncovered, on medium for 1 minute, stirring after 30 seconds with a metal spoon, or until melted and smooth.
Step 5 of 7
Spread tops of brownies with chocolate mixture. Place 2 Smarties on each brownie to form spiders’ eyes. Set aside to cool and set.
Step 6 of 7
Place remaining choc melts in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave, uncovered, on medium for 1 minute, stirring after 30 seconds with a metal spoon, or until melted and smooth. Dip pretzel sticks in chocolate to coat and place in a single layer on tray. Refrigerate for 10 minutes or until chocolate sets.
Step 7 of 7
Using a toothpick, poke 8 holes into two opposing sides of each brownie. Insert pretzel sticks into holes to form spiders’ legs. Use any leftover chocolate to create pupils on spiders’ eyes. Serve.
