Milk choc glaze
  • 55grams CSR caster sugar
  • 80milliliter milk
  • 200grams milk chocolate
  • 1tablespoons Jim Beam White Label Bourbon (optional)
Vanilla buttermilk glaze
  • 300grams CSR icing sugar
  • 1teaspoons Queen Finest Madagascar Vanilla Bean Paste
  • 50milliliter buttermilk
  • 3/4teaspoons lemon juice
  • 310grams White Wings plain flour
  • 25grams cornflour
  • 140grams CSR brown sugar
  • 140grams CSR golden syrup
  • 2 1/2teaspoons Mckenzie's Baking Powder
  • 2teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4teaspoons ground clove
  • 150grams Butter
  • 1/2 orange zest , finely grated
  • 150milliliter milk
  • 2 free-range egg, lightly whisked
  • 1 free-range egg

Description

This gingerbread glazed donut recipe combines the spiced flavours of gingerbread with a fluffy glazed donut. Perfect for making with kids for a special treat.

Method

Step 1 of 7

Preheat oven 160°C fan forced. Grease 2 donut baking pans.

Step 2 of 7

Sift flour, cornflour, baking powder and spices into a large bowl. Stir through sugar.

Step 3 of 7

Melt butter, syrup and orange zest in small saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat. Add milk and eggs, whisk to combine. Add butter mixture to dry ingredients. Spoon into piping bag and pipe into donut pans.

Bake 9-10 mins or until a skewer inserted into donuts comes out clean. Place on wire rack to cool.

Chocolate glaze: stir sugar in a small saucepan over med-high heat 2-3 mins. Remove from heat and add milk. Return pan to low heat, add chocolate (and bourbon) stir 2-3 mins. Cool slightly before glazing.

Vanilla glaze: sieve icing sugar into bowl, add buttermilk, vanilla and lemon juice. Whisk until smooth. Set aside for 5 mins for glaze to thicken slightly. Divide mixture between two bowls, tint one with red food colouring.

Step 7 of 7

Glaze donuts selecting between dark chocolate, red and vanilla glazes. Decorate with drizzled melted chocolate, sprinkles, cachous and grated white chocolate to suit. Refrigerate for 10 mins for glazes to set before serving.
