  • 1/4 green cabbage
  • 2 carrots
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/2teaspoons salt
  • 1teaspoons sugar
  • 1teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1teaspoons minced ginger
  • 1tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1teaspoons flour
  • 2 packets double merino pastry gow gee
  • 1tablespoons sesame seed oil

The best and simplest veggie dumplings.
Instruction tip
You can add mushrooms to the grated mixture if you want a meatier dumpling

Method

Step 1 of 6

Grate the cabbage, carrot and onion and combine in a bowl.

Step 2 of 6

Add salt, sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce and flour to the cabbage, carrot and onion mixture and stir till combined.

Step 3 of 6

Add roughly 1 tsp of mixture to each gow gee pastry and use a dumpling folder or fold pastry and use water to seal the edge.

Step 4 of 6

Add sesame seed oil to a large frying pan (must have a lid) on medium heat, add dumplings and dry till one side is golden brown.

Step 5 of 6

Add 1/4 cup of water to the pan and cover with a lid. Dumplings are cooked when the pastry is partially transparent like the picture above.

Step 6 of 6

Repeat steps 3-5 till all the mixture or pastry is gone. Serve with more soy sauce for dipping.
