  • 1packets beef & pork Italian style sausages
  • 1 cup gruyère, coarsely grated

Method

Step 1 of 4

Grease a 20x30cm baking dish. Roughly tear the bread into 4cm cubes. Layer half the bread in the baking dish.

Step 2 of 4

Heat butter in a frying pan. Squeeze meat from sausages to form small balls. Add to pan with onion and cook, stirring, for 5 minutes or until well browned. Scatter over bread in dish, then sprinkle with spinach and half each of the gruyère and parmesan. Top with the remaining bread.

Step 3 of 4

Whisk eggs, milk and mustard together in a large jug. Season. Pour over the bread. Set aside for 30 minutes to absorb the liquid. Preheat oven to 180°C

Step 4 of 4

Slice tomatoes and arrange over the mixture. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake for 40 minutes or until golden and set. Garnish with basil and serve.
