Method

Step 1 of 4

Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook for 3 minutes or until soft. Add mince and cook, stirring with a wooden spoon to break up lumps, for 4 minutes or until mince is browned. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano and cinnamon. Season. Stir until well combined and bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes or until the sauce is thick.

Meanwhile, cook macaroni as per pack instructions. Drain and return to pan. Add the meat sauce and stir to combine. Cover and set aside.

Step 3 of 4

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and whisk until well combined. Cook for 1 minute or until bubbly. Add milk in a slow, steady stream, whisking until combined. Continue stirring until mixture comes to the boil. Simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir through half the cheese. Cool for 10 minutes. Stir in egg.

Step 4 of 4

Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease a 10-cup capacity lasagne dish. Transfer pasta mixture to baking dish. Spoon over sauce evenly. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake for 25 minutes or until cheese is golden. Serve with salad.
