- 60grams sugar
- 3tablespoons water
- 2 medium eggs, cracked and lightly beaten
- 500grams all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup canola oil (plus 2 extra tsp)
- 3 cloves garlic, peeled and finely diced
- 1 medium white onion, peeled and finely diced
- 1 pinch salt

Description
This traditional bread is enhanced by the onion and garlic flavours.
Method
Step 1 of 4
Dissolve the yeast in the warmed water and 1 tsp of sugar. Stir until fully dissolved and set aside for 10 minutes. In a mixer, combine the rest of the ingredients but keep one egg white to the side.
Step 2 of 4
Once the ingredients are combine well, add the yeast to the mix and combine fully. Transfer to a bowl, cover with a tea towel and allow to prove for 1 hour.
Step 3 of 4
Roll the dough out into one long string of dough and then cut into 3 equal lengths. Braid the 3 rolls of dough together from top to bottom. Allow to proof for an hour.
Step 4 of 4
Pre-heat the oven to 160°C. Brush the dough with the remaining egg white. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
