Description
Made in a pie maker, these crumpets are easy to make, and can be frozen for longer life!
Method
Step 1 of 7
Warm the milk in a 500ml microwave safe container for around 1 minute, until it's warm but not hot
Step 2 of 7
Add 100 ml lukewarm water & the yeast to this, stirring to combine. Set aside for 15 minutes or until it starts to froth.
Step 3 of 7
Sift the flour, bicarb soda and salt into a large bowl. Make a well in the centre, pour in the yeast mixture
Step 4 of 7
Whisk from the centre outwards until the consistency of thickened cream. A handy tip is to use a hand crank egg beater if you have one, as it will make this easier and quicker.
Step 5 of 7
Cover with a damp tea towel and let sit in a warm place for 40-45 minutes, or until bubbles start to appear on the surface
Step 6 of 7
Heat your pie maker, and once ready spray with cooking oil. Add 1/4 cup of the mixture to each hole.
Cook for 5 mins with lid open (Or until they tops are mostly dry), then a further 4 mins with the lid closed. Open and flip over to cook for a further 4 minutes with the lid closed.
Step 7 of 7
Serve with butter, and whatever spread you like.
