- 3 1/2 cup plain flour
- 1teaspoons mixed spice
- 1/2 cup milk, warm
- 50grams butter, melted
- 4teaspoons dried instant yeast
- 1teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 orange, rind finely grated and 1/2 cup juiced
- 1 cup macro LSA
- 1/4 cup apricot jam, warmed
- 1 cup pitted dates, finely chopped
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup Essentials brown sugar
Method
Step 1 of 5
Combine 3 cups of the flour, LSA, sugar, yeast and spices in a bowl. Stir in dates. Make a well in the centre.

Whisk orange juice, rind, milk, butter and eggs together in a jug. Pour into flour mixture and stir well to combine.

Turn out onto a floured benchtop and knead for 5 minutes or until smooth. Dust dough with flour and place into a clean bowl. Cover with plastic and set aside in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.

Punch dough down to its original size. Knead again on a floured benchtop for 2 minutes. Divide into 12 pieces and place into a roasting pan lined with baking paper, spaced 1cm apart. Cover with plastic and leave for 30 minutes or until doubled again. Preheat oven to 190°C.

Meanwhile, to make crosses, mix remaining flour with 1/3 cup of water to form a paste. Remove plastic and pipe crosses onto buns. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden. Brush with warm jam and serve warm.
