- 225grams pork sausages, sliced
- 225grams mushrooms, sliced
- 4tablespoons olive oil, divided
- 2tablespoons flour
- 1L milk, warm
- 450grams cheddar, grated
- 500grams macaroni pasta, cooked for 2 minutes less than the package instructions. Drain
- 25grams panko
Description
Serve up a filling and comforting family supper with this cheesy and rich sausage and pasta bake.
Method
Step 1 of 4
Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan-forced.
Step 2 of 4
In a large skillet over medium heat, saute the sausages and mushrooms in 2 tablespoons of olive oil for about 5 minutes or until cooked. Set aside. Take the skillet back to heat and add the rest of the olive oil. Add the flour and mix thoroughly until it forms a paste.
Step 3 of 4
Whisk in the warm milk slowly into the pan. Cook for about 2 minutes or until the sauce is thick and creamy. Take off the heat and mix about two-thirds of the cheese and the cooked mushrooms and sausages. Tip in the cooked pasta and mix thoroughly until fully incorporated.
Step 4 of 4
Transfer the pasta into a baking dish and top with the rest of the cheese and the panko. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and the crumbs are golden brown.
