  • 1/2teaspoons baking powder
  • 125grams cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 medium apple, grated
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup milk

Description

Cheddar and apple is the perfect sweet and savoury flavour combination in these simple scones.

Method

Step 1 of 3

Pre-heat the oven to 200°C. Place the flour and baking powder in a large bowl, whisk to combine. Add the butter cubes and rub the butter into the flour using your finger tips, until you have a fine crumb consistency.

Step 2 of 3

Stir the grated apple and 80g of cheese into the mixture. Mix the egg and milk in a jug. Make a well and add 3/4 of the milk mix, mix well with a knife to form a dough.

Step 3 of 3

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and roll out to 2cm thick. Cut into discs with a glass or cutter. Repeat with the trimmings. Sprinkle each scone with grated cheese. Place on a lined baking sheet, brush the scones with milk and bake for 12-15 minutes until risen and golden.
