  • 1 onion
  • 5 mushrooms
  • 3 beef stock cubes
  • 2-3 cups water
  • 1tablespoons cornflour
  • 1tablespoons water
  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • 1teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 1teaspoons poppy seeds
  • 1tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pinch pepper, to taste

This pie filling is great to use when making smaller pies in a pie maker.

Method

Step 1 of 12

Chop the onion and mushrooms.

Step 2 of 12

In a pot add the olive oil, onions and mushrooms.

Step 3 of 12

Then add the steak (it is optional to cut before adding to the pot)

Step 4 of 12

Cook until brown.

Step 5 of 12

Then add the pepper, beef stock cubes and water. Add enough water to cover all the contents. Turn the heat down and simmer.

Step 6 of 12

Simmer for 2 hours. Keep an eye on the mixture to make sure the water does not evaporate. Add more water if required. Cook until tender and the steak pulls apart.

Step 7 of 12

Take the 2 sheets of puff pastry from the freezer and line a pie dish with 1 of the sheets of puff pastry.

Add the steak mixture into the pie dish.

Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top and pinch the edges.

Step 10 of 12

Wet the top with water and sprinkle the sesame and poppy seeds on top.

Put into the oven at 210 degrees until crispy. 20-30 minutes

Served with roast potatoes, vegetables, chips, bread, etc.
