- 1/4 cup traditional rolled oats
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2teaspoons mixed spice
- 1/3 cup dried fruit medley
- 50grams unsalted butter
- 6 Pink Lady apples, cored, scored around the circumference at the widest part
- 1/2 cup caramel spread
- 2teaspoons cornflour
Description
Make the most of seasonal apples in this tasty slow-cooker take on an old favourites: baked apples. Enjoy them topped with an oozy caramel sauce.
Method
Step 1 of 4
Combine oats, sugar, mixed spice, dried fruit and butter in a small bowl. Place apples in a 5.5L slow cooker. Spoon oat mixture inside apples, pushing down gently to fill.
Step 2 of 4
Combine caramel spread and 1/2 cup boiling water in a jug. Add to the base of the slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours (or low for 4 hours) or until apples are tender.
Step 3 of 4
Transfer apples to a baking dish and cover to keep warm. Mix cornflour and 1 tbs caramel mixture from slow cooker in a small bowl until smooth. Add to caramel mixture in slow cooker and stir to combine. Cover and cook on high for 10 minutes or until slightly thickened.
Step 4 of 4
Place apples on serving plates. Drizzle with caramel sauce. Serve.
