Pork & Mushroom Gow Gee

- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1/2teaspoons Chinese five spice
- 24 gow gee wrappers
- 1teaspoons ginger, finely grated
- 4 dried shitake mushrooms (whole)
- 2 green shallots, finely chopped
- 1tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 250grams pork mince
- 1L vegetable oil (for deep frying)
- 2/3 cup sweet chilli sauce (to serve)
Method
Step 1 of 4
Soak mushrooms in hot water for 20 minutes or until soft. Drain and pat dry with paper towel. Finely chop.
Step 2 of 4
Combine mince, shallots, hoisin sauce, garlic, ginger, five spice and mushrooms.
Step 3 of 4
Lay 6 gow gee wrappers on a flat surface. Brush edges with water. Spoon 1 tsp of pork mixture into centre of each. Fold up sides and pinch together to enclose filling and form a pouch. Repeat with remaining.
Step 4 of 4
Heat oil in a wok or large pan. When hot, cook gow gee, in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy. Transfer to a wire rack. Serve with sweet chilli sauce.
