Method

Step 1 of 5

Combine flour, sugar, yeast and salt in a bowl. Make a well in the centre. Add milk, vanilla extract, butter and egg yolks. Stir until well combined.

Step 2 of 5

Turn mixture onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 2 minutes or until smooth. Place in a clean, oiled bowl. Cover and stand in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.

Step 3 of 5

Punch down dough and knead for 2 minutes on a lightly floured surface. Roll dough into walnut-size balls and place onto a tray lined with plastic wrap.

Step 4 of 5

Line a baking tray with paper towel. Half fill a saucepan with vegetable oil and place over medium-high heat until hot. Gently drop 4-5 donut rolls into the oil. Cook for 3 minutes or until donuts are golden on all sides. Remove with a slotted spoon and place onto paper towel. Roll warm donuts in sugar. Place onto a wire rack. Repeat with remaining donuts and sugar.

Step 5 of 5

Fit a small, plain nozzle into a piping bag and fill with chocolate spread. Press nozzle into the base of each donut and fill with chocolate. Serve.
