Method
Step 1 of 9
This picture is to show you guys what brands I used all purchased at Woolworths. That bamboo mat is only two bucks by the way!
Step 2 of 9
Place your rice in a sieve, than place sieve over a bowel. Add water, gently rubbing the rice in your hands. (The water should become milky) discard water, repeat until the water in relatively clear.
Step 3 of 9
Fill up your pot with water, bring to a boil and add the rice. Put on low, cover rice for 15-20 minutes.
Step 4 of 9
Just before the rice has absorbed the water add the sugar, salt and vinegar rice to the pot with the rice. That way it goes evenly through the rice mix.
Step 5 of 9
Put the tuna in a bowl and mix in your choice of mayonnaise (I used the olive oil one because it was in my fridge, but it taste bloody amazing).
Step 6 of 9
Now onto the fun part!
Place your bamboo mat on a flat surface, laying out your nori sheet with the rough side down.
Step 7 of 9
Spread half the rice on the nori sheet, leaving a space up top. I put my filling just below the middle as I am only using tuna, usually it goes in the middle but you can do whichever you prefer.
Step 8 of 9
Using your bamboo mat, start rolling upwards towards the tuna (what do is fold the bottom up towards the tuna and then use the bamboo to roll the rest) by that I mean fold up towards tuna, leaving on the bamboo mat. then whatever bamboo is showing place over and start rolling. I put a picture in case anyone was curious.
Step 9 of 9
Cut in half, repeat and enjoy your delicious tuna sushi with wasabi or soy sauce.
