- 2tablespoons plain flour
- 1 small red onion, roughly chopped
- 1/2 cup flat-leaf parsley, roughly chopped
- 4 pita bread (to serve)
- 1/4teaspoons cayenne pepper
- 2teaspoons ground coriander
- 3teaspoons ground cumin
- 800grams can chickpeas, drained, rinsed
- 1 lemon, sliced (to serve)
- 3/4 cup hummus (to serve)
- 1 egg
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1L vegetable oil (for deep frying)
- 1 1/2 cup tabouli (to serve)

Method
Step 1 of 3
Place chickpeas, onion, garlic, egg and parsley in a food processor and pulse until finely ground and well combined. Transfer to a bowl. Add flour, cumin, coriander and cayenne. Season. Stir until combined.
Step 2 of 3
With wet hands, roll heaped tablespoons of mixture into balls and place on a tray. Chill for 30 minutes.
Step 3 of 3
Line a large baking tray with paper towel. Place a wire rack over tray. Half-fill a medium saucepan with oil and place over medium heat. Cook falafels in batches, for 5 minutes or until golden. Transfer to prepared tray. Serve with tabouli, hummus, pita bread and lemon slices.
