Cheese Selection
- 1 Frico Gouda Holland Mild cheese
- 1 Frico Goat’s (Chevrette) cheese
- 1 Frico Maasdam swiss-style cheese
- 1 Frico Gouda Cumin cheese
- 1 Frico Beachwood Smoked cheese
Fig Compote
- 2tablespoons butter, salted
- 2 red onions, cut into slices
- 16 dried figs, cut into quarters
- 6tablespoons red wine vinegar
Description
The holiday season is the perfect moment to share great food with friends and family. A beautiful Dutch cheese board or platter with a homemade fig compote is a great option when entertaining.
Method
Step 1 of 5
To start making the fig compote, heat a pan on medium-low heat and add butter. Once the butter has melted, add the onions and bake for 5 minutes.

Add the figs, red wine vinegar, water and give it a stir.
Step 3 of 5
Cook the fig compote while stirring for 15 minutes on low heat until they have a lose shape and become slightly mushy. Once the fig compote has turned mushy, turn off the flame and if desirable season with salt and pepper. Let the fig compote cool before serving.

Tip:You can already prepare the fig compote maximum 2 days before. Cover and store in the refrigerator.

Choose your board or serving platter and put the Dutch cheeses down. Fill the gaps with nuts, fruits, olives and honeycomb. Add a knife for each and various crackers sitting alongside.
